Strathcona
County Minor Football Association Kickoff Tournament
- August 7 - 8, 2007
KICK-OFF TOURNAMENT
The kick-off tournament is designed to give the players,
which have been practicing for the past 4 or 5 weeks now,
a chance to apply what they have been practicing, and
for the new players a chance to be exposed to the football
in a more "informal" environment. There are
no scorekeepers and it doesn't affect the team standings.
The players and coaches have an opportunity to see some
of their competition in the season ahead and prepare for
practices.
All this being said, it is really for the players. To
let them have some fun and . . .
TO GET READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL . . .
Good Luck to all the teams and players this football season
- and have fun!

WHEN: Tuesday, August 7, 2007 and Wednesday, August 8,
2007
WHERE: Ardrossan High School
FORMAT: Half-Field Tournament Play
WHO: SCMFA 3 Atom teams plus one invited guest; and SCMFA
4 Peewee teams
This is a great time for both players and parents. For
new players it provides a nice introduction into a game
format but in a relaxed atmosphere.
Rules: Capital District Minor Football
Association (CDFMA) rules apply, with the following modifications;
• Games are played on a half field only, two games played
concurrently at opposite ends of the same field.
• Games consist of two 20-minute halves, with three plays
remaining after regulation time for both halves. There
will be a 5-minute half time.
• Time is "run time", no time outs.
• In case of player injury on the field, the clock will
keep running, as it is timing for both games. The scoreboard
will not be used for keeping score.
• Two coaches from each team are allowed on the field
during the game.
• Coin toss at start of game determines which team gets
first possession.
• Loser of coin toss starts first possession for second
half.
• All series start possession on the 45 yard line.
• No punts or field goals are allowed. Third down attempts
must be a running or passing play.
• After scoring a touchdown, a one-point conversion is
attempted. No kicking.conversions are allowed; the conversion
must be a running or passing play.
• Loss of downs, defensive ball recovery, or scoring constitutes
a change of possession. The new series starts on the 45
yard line, regardless of field position at change of possession.
• Penalties assessed as per CDMFA rules, but in no case
shall the ball be moved further away than the 45 yard
line. In such circumstances, the ball will be placed at
the original line of scrimmage, and the first down marker
will be moved the penalty yardage. Example: on the 2nd
and eight from the 43 yard line, the offence is called
for procedure. The ball is placed on the 43 yard line,
and the first down marker is placed at the 30 yard line,
for 2nd and thirteen.
• The ball will be placed at the 45 yard line after any
tackle between the 45 and 55 yard lines. If the ball is
carried back past center field, the play will be whistled
down and the next down will commence from the 45 yard
line. The first down marker will NOT be adjusted for the
lost yardage.
Please note that games are at
Ardrossan High School instead of SAP because of the fields
being used for Summer Games
