September 2/10 will be the cut off for any new registrations. It will be up to the coaches if they will accept new players
A family has contacted “Jumpstart” (an organization that sponsors kids to play sports) and the SCMFA now has a contact with Jumpstart for any other families that might need support.
Emails are coming in from parents regarding their player’s playing time on the field. Coaching Director will recommend that the parents talk with their coaches and then follow through with the complaint letter process if they do not feel that their concerns have been addressed
CDMFA needs a list of all the coaches’ names, certifications and referees names.
A rough schedule still needs to be made up for picture day but it will not be able to be completed until the CDMFA season schedule is released
CDMFA - All player releases were completed. No one was denied ; The Tim Horton jerseys are in and need to be picked up. The new jerseys will be used next season.
Tim Horton’s have also donated water bottles for all Atom players and gift cards are also coming.
The Edmonton Charger and St. Albert teams have been picked for the half time show at the Edmonton Eskimos game (October 3, 2010)
The CDMFA have scheduled their casino fundraising days for March 26 and 27. It is mandatory that the SCMFA send 3 volunteers for the shifts of 10-6:30pm, 6-2 am or 9-3 am. Names of volunteers are needed by November. If the SCMFA can not produce 3 volunteers we will be fined $2000 per volunteer.
The first 2 games scheduled for all teams are exhibition games and will not be included in regular season points and teams will be assessed as to which tier they will be in.
The trainer policy was brought forward to the CDMFA and more discussion will be had on the subject at their September meeting.
The SCMFA Atom level teams were picked to participate in the Grey Cup flag football event. We have a volunteer who has agreed to be the coach. 12 names from all the teams will be drawn on October 15.
Clear visors are fine for players to wear but tinted visors are not allowed without a signed letter from an Ophthalmologist. The letter must be given to the referees at the games.
A mandatory coaches meeting is scheduled for August 30/10 then the season schedule will be released .
A Facebook page has been set up for the SCMFA.
At the July CDMFA meeting the Edmonton Eskimos have introduced a “6 a side” football league to run March – May (indoor football). Is the SCMFA interested in starting a league and being involved? More information is needed from the CDMFA. SCMFA feels that a separate executive would be needed to run that program in our area
Website has been revamped and was live just after the August long weekend.
Sabrecats have requested a donation for their pub night Sept.11/10. The SCMFA will donate a backpack and clothing item.
